CEREC Same-Day Crowns

At Ponce de Leon Family Dentistry, we want to make your life simpler. One of the ways we do this is by making it easier and more convenient to get the dental care you need.

Getting a restoration used to be a more complex procedure. You would come to the office, the dentist would shape your teeth, take messy and uncomfortable impressions, place a temporary restoration, and then send your information to a dental lab. You would then wait for a couple weeks to hear back from your dentist. Once you were called back to the office, the dentist would fit the restoration in place. If there were any problems with the restoration, the process would start over.

We don’t think it should be this complicated.

How Is This Possible?

At our office, we use the CEREC system to create your crowns and other restorations. CEREC stands for chairside economic restoration of esthetic ceramics. This system allows us to craft custom restorations here in the office while you wait.

How Does It Work?

At your appointment, we’ll discuss the need for a restoration. Some of the restorations we offer include:

Crowns – Also known as a “cap,” this restoration fits over the top of your tooth and goes all the way to the gumline. We use crowns to repair broken or severely decayed teeth, protect a tooth that is fragile, build up an eroded tooth, or conceal a tooth that is discolored or unusually shaped. We can also use crowns to replace teeth as part of a dental implant system.

Veneers – Veneers are a cosmetic treatment used to transform the appearance of existing teeth. They are affixed to the front of your teeth and conceal chips and other damage, widen or lengthen teeth, cover discoloration, and fix minor misalignments, all while looking completely natural.

If we determine that a restoration is appropriate, Dr. Haeussner will take digital imprints (which are like photos) and upload these images to the CEREC system. Using the CEREC software, Dr. Haeussner will design your restoration. The machine then goes to work milling the restoration from a block of ceramic.

Once the restoration is complete, Dr. Haeussner will check it over carefully and then place it. If necessary, small adjustments will be made for a perfect fit. And that’s it! You’ll be on your way with your new, permanent restoration!
